E ducation

Katipo has done work over a number of years with clients in the education sector ranging from the Ministry of Education, through to Massey University, Wellington High School and the New Zealand Environmental Educators Association.

Katipo staff have been on the National College of Design Curriculum Advisory Group, and given lectures to students on web accessibility and designing functional websites.

New Zealand Association of Language Teachers (NZALT)

www.nzalt.org.nz

www.nzalt.org.nz

NZALT provides support in the teaching and the learning of languages. They came to us with a concise brief.  They did not have a big budget, but they needed to improve the usability of the site, in particular the navigation, as well as give the site a facelift. Using Kea, we were able to quickly template the site, achieving both goals.

New Zealand Teachers Council

www.teacherscouncil.govt.nz

The NZ Teachers Council is the professional body for all registered teachers working in early childhood, primary, secondary, tertiary and other teaching situations. The Council is a crown entity and as such needed to adhere to the e-government guidelines. We think it is a good example of how accessible sites can look good too.

Toi Te Kupu

Toi Te Kupu www.toitekupu.org.nz

Toi te Kupu is a directory of Maori resources, initiated by the Massey University Department of Maori Studies.

Chris Cormack has been a programmer and advisor for the project since its inception, seeing it through from being a simple filemaker database to its current location as part of Te Kete Ipurangi.

One of the challenges faced was to make the site bilingual and to also provide a full immersion Maori option.

Wellington High School

School Net(School Net)

Katipo provides networking assistance to Wellington High School, helping them get the most out of their limited IT budget.

We have recently developed "School Net", which controls and accounts for student and staff access to the internet.  School Net helps the IT staff assign "quota" to students, tells staff who is online, and permits quick and easy enabling and disabling of accounts.
