For the latest version of this site, we implemented a fresh new design. Following usability studies, conducted in association with the client, a less complex navigation scheme was developed and implemented.

The biggest challenge was what to do with the ever expanding resource library. We implemented Koha, our free library system. Resources can now be catalogued and searched via a familiar library OPAC interface.

Wellington City Council

Katipo staff have been working with the Wellington City Council since 1995. We currently work with the Intranet team, the Library and the Wellington Festival & Convention Centre.

WCC prides itself on being a leading Local Authority in New Zealand, with initiatives such as InfoCity, CityNet, the 2020 Trust, Community Kiosks and Community Web Serving contributing to its "top town" status.

Kea is used extensively thoughout the Council, including for their main website.

Wellington City Libraries

In 1998, Katipo undertook the design, production and implementation of the Wellington City Libraries' web site and public access to the catalogue. The site was a full "virtual branch" where visitors could browse the library services, search the catalogue and even reserve a book, an exciting new development at the time. In 2001/2002 the library undertook the massive project of implementing a new ILS and Katipo again provided design and development skills to get a new website ready to launch at the same time. We have also installed the MyLibrary programme for the library, which enables the public to set up an account and develop their own "homepage" within the library site. The Library site has won numerous awards and received rave reviews, the most consistent of which come from the users themselves.
